Dr. Julie Park Announced as a Grand Challenges Grants 2.0 Awardee
On June 25, 2026, Provost King Rice sent a campus-wide email announcing the Grand Challenges Grants 2.0 awardees. The Provost’s Office in partnership with the Division of Research launched the Grand Challenges Grants Program in 2023, a signature initiative of UMD’s Fearlessly Forward strategic plan designed to catalyze bold, interdisciplinary research projects that address society’s most pressing issues and advance solutions for the public good. Out of nearly 80 proposals involving 400 researchers representing every college and school, Dr. Julie Park was one of the recipients of a Team Award for Belonging for Immigrants and Refugees with Disabilities (BIRD) alongside Veronica Kang (EDUC) and Sehrish Shikarpurya (EDUC).
