Arryn Berroya is a returning editor for Fresh Pages and a senior pursuing a B.S. in Biological Sciences (Cell Biology and Genetics), with minors in Health, Humanities, and Medicine and Asian American Studies. She has a background in brain metastasis research as well as research in Filipino American history and psychology. Arryn was a teaching assistant for Filipino American History and Biography and enjoys writing and advocacy work for Filipino and Filipino American communities. After graduation, she will continue pursuing these passions while preparing for medical school. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, bullet journaling, and spending time with her family.
Elise Chang is a senior majoring in Communication, with a minor in Asian American Studies. On campus, Elise is a member of the Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society and Ballet Company M. She enjoyed reviewing student pieces for Fresh Pages, as preserving family history and interpreting collective memory through storytelling are important to her. After graduation, Elise looks forward to starting her position as an associate Pathways business management analyst at Northrop Grumman. In her free time, Elise enjoys creative writing, reading, dancing, and exploring new coffee shops in the area.
Josie Choe is a junior pursuing a B.A. in Government and Politics and a minor certification in Korean and Asian American Studies. On campus, she is a member of the UMD Moot Court team and the event coordinator of the Asian American Pre-Law Association. She also studied abroad at Korea University to explore her interests in U.S.–Asia affairs. In her free time, she tours various museums and historical buildings in Washington, D.C. Her favorite place to visit is the Hillwood Estate!
Anand Kalla a junior Economics major and an Asian American Studies minor. In his free time, he loves to read. His favorite writers include Toni Morrison, Thomas Pynchon, Roberto Bolaño, and Franz Kafka.
Divya Vakkalanka is a senior majoring in Journalism and International Relations, with minors in General Business and Asian American Studies. On campus, she is the co-president of the Asian American Student Union and is involved in the Kappa Omega Alpha public policy fraternity, along with Fresh Pages. She is passionate about foreign policy, human rights, and press freedom, as well as South Asian art, history, and language. In her free time, Divya loves cooking, journaling, traveling, and engaging with diasporic media.
